Just spent a lovely afternoon at Hammerton Zoo with my 5 year old grandson. Its a lovely little zoo, staff are friendly and helpful. We spent 3 hours looking around and using the play area. Plenty to see and do for the afternoon, good value for money and well worth another visit.
Bigger place than expected! I'm sure in the summer it's a lot nicer for humans and animals! Was a bit too cold but my friends little girl wasn't phased. Not yo sure if it's because it was the winter but the signs for the animals didn't match so confused at what to look for in some enclosures but not a problem with a 3 year old !
Do not ! And mean do not be put off by the containers around the zoo. It's obvious they are doing some major refurbishment, and when done the enclosures will be stunning. That said the current enclosures succeed in hitting the balance of viewing the species and giving it some privacy. They're some of the most photo friendly enclosures too. It's a must visit as it has lots of unique animals and birds not seen in much larger zoos. Definitely on my revisit list .
One of the best zoos we've visited in East Anglia, it boasts a broad and interesting range of species, specially avian fauna. Animals and facilities look well kept and in winter some (but not all) enclosures have darkened cabins where animals shying from the cold can be seen indoors. It is also kid friendly having a playground, petting zoo and an aviary which delight the younger ones.Tickets are expensive though, and children over 3 years old pay, with family ticket discount limited to families of four. However it is a reasonable value for the money.All in all a very memorable experience that will be repeated in the summer.
Nice place to visit with your children, it has lots of potential and has a lot to offer.Children's play area is a bonus and the caf and gift shop is also nice.At this time of year (winter 2018) it was expected that many animals would be indoors, however we was surprised to see so many animals wandering outside.White Tigers are lovely, camels are huge, giant donkeys are too.A few empty enclosures awaiting animals.Good value place to visit with plenty for families.
